Unleash Your Potential Power Introduction

As we grow older, these defense systems require more need for penetration maintenance. This does not limit our ability to perform and enjoy an active lifestyle of optimum health and wellness. If our mind-body does not keep active physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally we will rust out and decay. Our mind-body is designed and uniquely structured to last for more than one hundred years when properly maintained. Some researchers and health care professionals have suggested that the reason we experience degenerative diseases, cancer, heart problems, and the like is that people are living longer. This could be true for a small percentage of our society.

However, according to a recent study conducted by the American Institute for Cancer Research, one-third of all cancers are preventable through a combination of dietary changes, adequate physical activity, and maintenance of appropriate body weight. Avoiding tobacco and alcohol could prevent an additional one-third of the occurrences of cancer. The report suggested that 200,000 of the 600,000 cancer deaths in the United States each year might be prevented if these recommendation guidelines were followed. From my personal experience researching health issues, this study could include all degenerative diseases that are affecting our society. Lifestyle factors are the cause of most illnesses. When we learn to understand the power of our healing system, we will be more willing to take action and make lifestyle changes to unleash our mind-body potential healing power.

The concept of preventing or influencing the growth of cancer has been studied since the early 1900s. In 1942, Tannenbaum described the enhanced effect a high-fat diet had on tumor growth and in animal models. In 1981, Doll and Peto reported that dietary factors may account for 35 percent of cancer deaths, and a report published by the National Academy of Science in 1982 presented convincing evidence, about the relationship between dietary fat and cancer. We need to be better educated about health issues. Education could reduce the cost of health care within our community and our society.

The role of the diet in the prevention and management of prostate cancer is undergoing intensive investigation. There are multiple causes of prostate cancer involving the aging process, hereditary factors, hormonal influences, and environmental factors. Perhaps the most important is environmental factors, including diet and lifestyle.

Researchers have accumulated information indicating that diet and lifestyle play an important role in the prevention and management of the disease. Epidemiologic, animal model, biochemical, molecular biological, and cell culture studies are being done to evaluate the effect of nutrition and dietary supplements and the development and prevention of cancer and other diseases. These studies have begun to yield results that allow health care professionals to advise patients regarding their diets and lifestyle. The studies should include information on emotional stressors, which multiply our problems.

Research suggested that the presence of prostate cancer cells is surprisingly common in men. Autopsy studies have shown that cancer cells can be detected within the prostate in 26 percent of men aged thirty to forty years and 38 percent of men in their fifth decade. Prostate cancer cells seem to exist either as latent cancers whose numbers expand very slowly, which is the situation in 85 percent of men, or as actively growing cancers with the ability and propensity to metastasize. Researchers say this change in behavior from a slow-growing, latent cancer to aggressive carcinoma is not clear, but it is the subject of intense investigation. Cancer cells are destroyed by our healing system moment by moment. Our immune system has the ability to detect and eliminate cells that are diseased.
Personal Experience:

Our mind-body is made up of over one hundred trillion cells, our basic membrane contains fundamental molecules of life. Cells are the building block of life; they are what keep us alive. A single cell can survive by itself. However, because of our holistic designed cells cooperate and work together and function at their highest intellectual level. Some cells are specially designed to perform specialized functions as they mature. These cells cooperate with other specialized cells and become the building blocks of our mind-body. Cells are very small, they cooperate together to form tissues organs and systems. It would require about 10,000 cells to cover the head of a pin, and each of us is composed of more than 75,000,000,000,000 cells. As an individual unit, the cell is capable of metabolizing its own nutrients, and synthesizing many types of molecules, providing its own energy, and replicating itself in order to produce succeeding generations of cells.

Cells can be viewed as an enclosed vessel, where innumerable chemical and biological reactions take place simultaneously. These reactions are under very precise control so that they contribute to the life and procreation of cells. In our mind-body cells become specialized to perform different functions through the process of differentiation. In order to do this, each cell keeps in constant communication with other cells. As a cell receives nutrients from the environment and expels wastes into its surroundings, it adheres to and cooperates with other cells. Cells cooperate together to form tissues, and cooperation between tissues, in turn, forms organs, which carry out the functions necessary to sustain our life. Our cells are enclosed by a plasma membrane, which forms a selective barrier that allows nutrients to enter and waste products to leave. The interior of our cell is organized into many specialized compartments; each compartment is surrounded by a separate membrane.
