Unleash Your Potential Power Introduction

Matthew E McLaren

The purpose of this book is to identify in greater depth and fullness my ability to withstand difficulties and setbacks in life and view them as learning experiences. The most important factor on which our characters are defined is our ability to perform and succeed in difficult and stressful conditions. Age or sickness should not dictate our ability to take immediate control of our mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, and financial destiny. Faith and belief in our true worth in this journey of life can strengthen or weaken our ability to unleash our potential power to achieve optimum health and wealth. Humans are designed with potential power, to accomplish phenomenal achievement in health and wellness.

For Theresa and me, we truly believe that we have the potential power to achieve our goal in life, when we have a close relationship with God. Age is just a number it does not affect our ability to take relevant action to attain optimal health. I retired from the Regional Municipality of Durham Duffin Creek Incineration Plant as a shift engineer. Soon after, I planned to begin a new career as a nutrition consultant. I’ve always had a desire to be a Christian motivational speaker, to promote God’s amazing grace of health and wealth of mind-body. Retirement provided me with the freedom to pursue my dream. In this journey of life, age does not determine our success in accomplishing tasks en route to our destination. I have a special message for all seniors, cancer survivors, and survivors of other illnesses. My simple message is this: age and sickness do not have to determine where our lives end or the quality of life we live. Age is unique and priceless treasures that extend wisdom and knowledge, that cannot be learned in university and textbooks. This wisdom can only be accumulated by years of experience within our environment and an intimate relationship with our Creator. If we are careless in our thinking or succumb to the oversimplification of conventional beliefs, our faith will suffer from a false conception of our true potential value and what we can accomplish in this life.

Our Creator has designed within us a mind-body that is special and unique to humans. It’s true our mind-body is constantly facing attacks from foreign invaders that could cause infection, illness, and disease. These attacks include living microbes in the form of bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses, and non-living toxins, such as manmade chemicals and drugs. Our mind-body is fortified with a number of external and internal safeguards that prevent the most dangerous invaders from entering our mind-body and causing harm. The physical barriers are referred to as our body’s frontline defense systems.

Our skin, the body’s largest organ, provides physical and chemical barriers against the outside environment. This organ forms a protective layer that completely surrounds our whole body. It protects our cells, tissues, blood vessels, bones, organs, and systems. When we get a cut or injury to our skin, this could provide an entrance for infectious agents. Certain glands, established beneath the skin, activate special enzymes that help to kill the bacteria. Areas of our mind-body that are not protected by our skin are protected by other defensive measures. Mucous membranes line our respiratory system and secrete mucus that traps irritants that enter through our noses. There are other protections that prevent foreign particles from entering our lungs. Harmful microbes that escape and enter our stomach are destroyed by stomach acids.
