Most people think of the core as encompassing only their abdominal muscles. The core extends far beyond abdominal muscles, to the back, sides, pelvis, hips, and buttocks muscles that need support in many movements you make. The surprising number of everyday movements you make, to bend, twist, and rotate your torso, and remain upright, rely on the core muscles.

If your priority is to have a stronger core or just to get through the day more easily, the core muscles are worth considering. Of course, many rigorous workouts help to strengthen your core. But not everyone is capable of executing them properly, and consequently, some of them can actually cause injury if you neglect them.
